Current Cue Energy CEO David Biggs has been appointed the new CEO and managing director of AWE Ltd., effective May 2016.
Biggs will succeed current CEO Bruce Clement, who has been given six months' notice of his employement termination. Clement's employment is expected to come to an end in September 2016, or such earlier date should AWE and Clement come to an agreement, the company said.
Currently CEO of Cue Energy, Biggs has been in the position for three years. Prior to that Biggs spent almost 20 years with BHP Billiton Petroleum, rising to the positions of vice president, commercial and vice president, land and upstream agreements, based in Houston.
Commenting on the appointment, AWE chairman Bruce Phillips said, “David is a proven CEO with a good track record of delivering profitable outcomes for his companies. The AWE board believes his leadership skills, very strong gas marketing background, and deep knowledge of the energy industry in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia will be beneficial in delivering AWE’s future strategy.”
