Mobilization work for a 3D seismic ocean bottom cable (OBC) data acquisition survey in offshore production license (OPL) 233 offshore Nigeria has started.

Following mobilization, which is expected to complete by the end of March, the 3D OBC acquisition work is expected to start early April 2014, and be completed by the end of July 2014, says partner, London-listed SacOil.

SacOil expects the processing of the raw data and interpretation of results to be completed by Q3 2014.

OPL 233 is in the shallow Marine area of the prolific Niger Delta region. It covers about 126  sq km in 3-10m water depth. OPL 233 was awarded to NIGDEL United Oil Company Limited (NIGDEL) in 2006 and the production sharing agreement was executed by NIGDEL and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in May 2007. SacOil holds a 20% interest.
