GC Rieber Bags Statnett Management Contract

Norwegian shipping company GC Rieber Shipping has won a technical management contract from Statnett Transport for the Norwegian logistics company’s two RoRo vessels.

The vessels are the 9,120-bhp Elektron (built 2008) and 1,500-bhp Elektron II (built 1969), said a stock exchange announcement from the company that operates offshore subsea support vessels, marine seismic vessels and polar logistics and research expeditions.

"The contract has a duration of three years plus options. The vessels are mainly used for subsea works and transport of transformers, generators and turbines to Norwegian energy plants," said the statement.

GC Rieber Shipping's business within offshore/shipping includes ownership in specialized vessels, high quality marine ship management and project development within the segments subsea, ice/support and marine seismic.

The group has a specialized competence in offshore operations in harsh environments as well as design, development and maritime operation of offshore vessels. GC Rieber Shipping currently operates 11 and has direct and indirect ownership in 23 advanced special purpose vessels for defined markets within the subsea, ice/support and marine seismic segments.
