Spartan 202 jackup, owned by Spartan Offshore Drilling LLCBaker Hughes North America rotary rig count, released 13 Dec 2013, shows 59 drilling rigs operating offshore US, down 2 from 61 a week ago, but up 10 from a year ago. This includes 53 rigs working offshore Lousiana and 2 rigs each off California, Florida, and Texas. Of the 57 rigs working in the Gulf of Mexico, BHI lists the majority (38 rigs, 66%) as drilling for oil with only one-third (19 rigs) drilling for gas.

In Canada, there are still three semisubmersibles present for the season, two from Transocean: GSF Grand Banks (North Amethyst G25-9Z) and Henry Goodrich (White Rose H-70C), along with Seadrill's West Aquarius. The Stena Carron had been drilling the Margaree A-49 but terminated the well on 30 Nov, according to the Canada-Newfoundland & Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB), which oversees operator activity.

BHI lists two rigs working off Newfoundland and Labrador for the week of 13 Dec, same as the prior week.
