Alimak Hek Group AB is buying the offshore operations of Heis-Tek, a Norwegian specialized traction elevator company, focused on tailored vertical access solutions to the oil and gas industry.

“This acquisition will allow us to become a more complete provider of vertical access solutions to our customers in the oil and gas industry, which is one of our prioritized sectors. Heis-Tek has a long history of serving these customers, and is a very good fit with Alimak Hek. The acquired expertise and market strength will provide new growth opportunities for the Group,” says Tormod Gunleiksrud, President and CEO at Alimak Hek.

Through the acquisition, Alimak Hek will broaden its product portfolio from rack and pinion-based technology to traction based elevators and thereby strengthen its product and service offering of vertical access solutions to the oil and gas industry.

In addition, the acquisition also enables Alimak Hek to provide a total elevator service and inspection support on a global basis to the industry.

The acquisition encompasses the Heis-Tek sites Onarheim (new equipment sales) and Bergen (service) with a total of 38 employees. The transaction is expected to be completed during June 2014.

Heis-Tek AS is a Norwegian elevator company established in 1994. The company offers personnel & goods elevators for the oil and gas industry and for the onshore sector. The company has in total supplied and installed more than 1600 elevators, mainly based on traction and hydraulic design.
