BHI offshore rig count for North America

Today's Baker Hughes North American offshore rotary rig count listed 58 rigs operating this week, down 2 rigs from a week ago but up 2 rigs from a year ago (4% year-over-year increase).

Gulf of Mexico

The majority, 56 rigs, are working in the Gulf of Mexico, down 2 from last week and up 3 from a year ago.

Canada

In Canada, two rigs were working off Newfoundand and Labrador, for the third week in a row, down from three rigs the rig count on 16 May 2014. The Canadian offshore count only reached five rigs in Aug-Sept 2013, the highest since April 2007.

Inland waters

In addition to the 58 rigs offshore North America this week, 15 were working in inland waters, up 1 from last week, but down 8 from a year ago (35% year-over-year decrease).
