CIMC delivers new jackup in Yantai

Malaysia’s Coastal Contracts Bhd received the new JU2000E Coastal Driller 4001 jackup rig from CIMC Raffles in Yantai. 

The delivery marks the ninth rig built and delivered from the Yanti yard.

The Coastal Driller 4001 is ABS classified and can accommodate 140 people. It is 70.36m long, 76m wide and 9.45m high, Its a leg length is 167m with spud can diameter of 18m and designed draft of 6.7m. The unit has a maximum operation depth of 122m, maximum drilling depth of 10,668m and minimum operation temperature of -20 degrees.

It’s drilling package is from Norway Aker.

CIMC is constructing two additional orders for Coastal Contracts. One jackup rig that mirrors the Coastal Driller 4001, and one gas compression jackup unit. Both are have a scheduled delivery in 2015.

In March, CIMC Raffles secured an order from Malaysia-based Thaumas Marine Ltd to build one gas compression jackup unit, which is based on CIMC’s Taisun 200B design.

The jackup is scheduled to be delivered in 2015 and will in service for Pemex in the Gulf of Mexico. The charter contract is for a period of eight years with an extension option up to 12 years.
