FES connectors for Mariner development

UK oil and gas engineering firm FES International has won a US$1,250,000 contract to supply four diverless bend stiffener connectors to NOV Flexibles.

Diverless bend stiffener connectors (DBSCs) enable the quick, efficient and cost effective installation of bend stiffeners on offshore deep sea drilling operations.

The FES International DBSCs will be used by NOV Flexibles at Statoil's heavy oil Mariner field development in the UK Nrth Sea. The DBSCs will connect to pipes operating 97-112m water depth.

FES International has started work on the DBSC contract which will be delivered by 31 October, 2014.

Rob Anderson, managing director at FES International, said: “Although this is the first time we’ve worked with Statoil as the main end-user, it’s the latest in a long line of DBSC deals – a product for which demand just keeps on growing.”

The Statoil development is one of the UK’s largest new offshore oil field in over a decade. A further thirty years of production and recoverable oil volumes of 250 million barrels have been predicted at the field.
