EMGS gets Malaysian work

Electromagnetic Geoservices ASA (EMGS) received a US$6.8 million letter of intent (LOI) for 3D EM data acquisition in Malaysia.

The BOA Thalassa vessel will conduct the survey, which is currently on its way to Asia. It is expected in Singapore in mid-October for inspection and will then begin the acquisition shortly after.

The LOI is from an unnamed international oil company.

EMGS says this is the first of several new projects in Asia for their company.

"Due to increased demand for our EM services among new and existing customers we anticipate to keep one vessel operating in this region for most of or all of 2015," says Roar Bekker, EMGS CEO.

In September, EMGS was awarded two multi-million dollar contracts with Petrobras and an unnamed client.

Petrobras awarded EMGS a $5.5 million contract for 3D EM data acquisition in Brazil using the EM Leader vessel.

EMGS also signed a $3.5 million data licensing agreement with a customer for the provision of 3D EM data from EMGS’s multi-client data library in the Barents Seas.

EMGS' library in the Barents Sea now covers 42,000sq km, in addition to approximately 10,000sq km in the Norwegian Sea and 1400sq km in the North Sea.
