Statoil to drill Knappen

Statoil’s request to drill at Knappen prospect in the central North Sea has been granted approval from the Petroleum Safety Authority of Norway (PSA).

Drillng is scheduled to begin next month at well 16/7-11 using the Songa Trym semisubmersible drilling facility.

In the event of a discovery, a sidetrack will also be drilled and the well will be production-tested. Water depth at the site is 80.5m.

Statoil is the operator for exploration licenses PL 072 B and PL 072 D in Block 16/7.
