Anadarko spuds Warrior in GoM

Anadarko Petroleum spudded the Warrior well in deepwater Gulf of Mexico, according to partner Ecopetrol.

Warrior is in Green Canyon Block 563, near two major production fields: the western border of Anadarko’s K2 block and on the eastern border of BHP Billiton’s Shenzi field.

The well is targeting Miocene sands, equivalent in age the to K2 field, Anadarko said in its Q2 operations report.

Ecopetrol said results from Warrior are expected before the end of 2016.

Andarko is the operator of Warrior with 65% interest. Partners include Ecopetrol (20%) and MCX Exploration (15%).

Ecopetrol said the company is also working with Anadarko at the Kronos prospect, offshore Colombia.
