Masirah spuds Karamah off Oman

Published

Masirah Oil spudded the Karamah#1 exploration well in Block 50 offshore Oman last week (17 March).

The Karamah prospect has a target depth of about 3km, and is on a structural closure approximately 13km away from the earlier GAS-1 discovery well, in 23m water depth.

The well objective is to explore multiple target horizons of the Early Tertiary and Late Cretaceous formations.

The well location was selected by integrating mainly the geological understanding and the proprietary multi-attribute Rex Virtual Drilling technology, says Masirah.

The well is being drilled using the independent leg cantilever jackup drilling rig Aban VII.
