Statoil’s North Sea Mariner platform is in place following a major heavy lifting campaign throughout July.

The work saw nine modules - weighing 38,000-tonne in total - installed onto a steel jacket using the Saipem 7000 heavy lift vessel.
Work will now begin to connect and test the modules, which will require close to 2 million hours of work offshore and support over 1500 jobs.
Mariner, a heavy oil field development, is one of the largest projects currently under development on the UK Continental Shelf.
The field is in the East Shetland Platform of the UK North Sea, about 150km east of the Shetland Isles. The field has an estimated 250 MMbo with an average plateau production expected at about 55,000 b/d.
Hedda Felin, managing director Statoil Production UK said: “The safe installation of the platform and the beginning of the hook-up and commissioning signals a new phase for Statoil as a UK Continental Shelf operator. Mariner is an important project in Statoil’s international portfolio, and will provide jobs and create wider ripple effects in the supply chain for several decades to come.”
During the hook up and commissioning phase, the Noble Lloyd Noble jackup rig and the Safe Boreas accommodation vessel will be next to the Mariner platform, providing accommodation for up to 800 people during peak activity.
