Independent oil firm African Petroleum has applied to enter a second renewal period at the Senegal Offshore Sud Profond (SOSP) production sharing contract (PSC).
The firm is also hoping to swap a commitment to drill a well for a 3D seismic acquisition program from its outstanding first phase commitments.
The renewal would extend the PSC from 2.5 years from December 2017 and would include a commitment to carry out 3D seismic acquisition and processing and one exploration well.
Africa Petroleum says extending the PSC would help it secure a farm-in partner.
Meanwhile, the firm is withdrawing from the CI-509 PSC offshore Ivory Coast, having not found a farm-in partner. It's working with partner Ophir Energy on CI-513 to assess the impact of the Ayame-1X exploration well, drilled in May. The well was plugged and abandoned as a dry hole.
Meanwhlie, African Petroleum is working with authorities in Sierra Leone to enter the next phases of the ultra-deep water SL-04 and SL-4A-10 licenses and modify the work programs. Two new prospects have also been added to the firm's inventory, Leo and Vega. A revised resource estimate will be published after entry into the next phase of the licenses.
