NPD processes Statoil Gullfaks plan

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) is processing Statoil’s plan for development and operation (PDO) for the Rutil discovery in the Gullfaks Rimfaksdalen area in the North Sea.

Rutil is located in the Gullfaks Rimfaksdalen valley development, around 5-15km southwest of the Gullfaks A platform, in the North Sea and is at 135m water depth, 3200m below the seabed.

Production start-up is scheduled for 1Q 2017 on the US$610 million fast-track project with the purpose to extend the lifetime of the Gullfaks A platform and provide about 80MMboe. Plateau production is expected to reach 31,000boe/d in 2019 and the expected lifetime is 15 years.

The development is a four-slot subsea template with two simple gas production wells. The well stream will be connected to the existing pipeline to the Gullfaks A platform and has possibilities of connecting two more wells.

Statoil submitted its PDO to the NPD in December.

Statoil is the operator of Rutil with 51% interest. Partners are Petoro (30%) and OMV (19%).
