Four well discovery offshore Sarawak

SapuraKencana Energy Sarawak Inc. (SKE) announced the discovery of four non-associated natural gas wells in the SK408 Production Sharing Contract (PSC) area. These are the first four wells of a 10-well commitment in the SK408 PSC, a 4480sq km area, located in shallow waters approximately 120km offshore Sarawak, Malaysia, in the prolific Central Luconia Gas Province.

The first four exploration wells were within the primary target of the Late Miocene Carbonate reservoirs. The first well, Teja-1, located 8km southeast Cili Padi gas field encountered 219m of gross column whilst the Gorek-1 discovery, located 15km southeast F23 gas field encountered a gross gas column of 235m. The third well, Legundi-1, located 18km south F23 gas field which was drilled in a down-flank location encountered a 139m gross gas column and the fourth well, Larak-1, located12 km south of F6 gas field, also drilled in a down-flank location encountered a gross gas column of 333m.

SKE is the operator with a 40% working interest with partners PETRONAS-Carigali Sdn. Bhd. 30% and Sarawak Shell Bhd. 30%.
