Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has granted Faroe Petroleum Norge consent to takeover operatorship from DONG E&P Norge of the Oselvar and Trym fields in the North Sea.
Earlier this week, Faroe completed the acquisition deal with DONGconsisting of five Norwegian North Sea oil and gas fields, which included the Oselvar and Trym fields.
The Oselvar field is in blocks 1/2 and 1/3 in the southern North Sea, around 27km southwest of Ula. The field has been developed using subsea wells, and the wellstream is transported to Ula for processing. Production from the field began in 2012.
The Trym field is in block 3/7 in the far south of the North Sea, 3km from the boundary with the Danish Continental Shelf. The field has been developed using subsea wells, and the wellstream is transported to the Harald facility on the Danish shelf for processing. Production began in 2011.
Although consent to use the facilities and pipelines has previously been granted, the new operator requires consent to use them. This is because consent for use also covers the relevant parts of the operator's management system, the PSA said.
The PSA has now given Faroe consent to use the facilities and connected pipelines.
In November, DONG Energy announced its decision to exit the oil and gas business, to focus its efforts on the renewable sector.
