BPZ Energy spuds Corvina well off Peru

BPZ Energy spud the CX15-7D development well in the Corvina field in Block Z-1, offshore Peru, on 29 July 2014, the company announced today. BPZ Energy plans to drill to 8500ft depth and expects operations to complete in October.

BPZ Energy spud its first Corvina development well last July with the CX-15 platform, which was installed at the field in 2012. The 2500-ton buoyant tower hull, built by GMC Ltd. and Horton Wison, measures 69.9m in length with four, ring-stiffened connected cylindrical tubes including one central suction pile. The CX-15 supports a 1500-ton, three-level topsides facility – designed by Audubon Engineering and GMC – and will have a production capacity of 12,200bo/d and 12.8 MMcf/d of gas. The faciliy can support a drilling rig with 24 well slots. The Petrex-28 rig is under contract.

Additionally, the company brought the CX15-5D development well online on 6 July. The well averaged a gross production of 690bo/d (352 b/d net to BPZ) over the last two weeks.

The Corvina field is located in shallow water Tumbes basin. BPZ Energy says SEC reserves stood at 12.7MMbo net at year-end 2013.

The company also announced that it has completed the Albacora A-26D development well in the northern part of Block Z-1. The well was completed on 12 July and averaged a gross production of 1000bo/d (531b/d net to BPZ Energy) over the last two weeks.

"This production is coming from a new deeper oil zone previously untested in Albacora, which is being evaluated now, while the other known oil zones are expected to be placed on production once the ongoing evaluation of the new deeper zone is completed," the company said.
