Tenaris will build a US$1.5 billion seamless pipe mill in Bay City, Texas, the company said in an announcement ceremony on 15 February 2013, which included Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Tenaris said the facility will have an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of seamless pipe and generate approximately 600 direct manufacturing jobs for the local community.

"Our new facility will complement our integrated global manufacturing network and work closely with our existing North American operations to further strengthen domestic production," said Paolo Rocca, Chairman and CEO of Tenaris.

Governor Perry thanked state and local officials, and the local business community for its part in bringing Tenaris' new facility to Bay City.

“The most profound statement about our favorable economic climate comes when companies like Tenaris make an investment of this size in our state," he said."That says that not only is Texas the best place to grow your business now, but they’re confident that we’ll remain that way moving forward."

Germán Curá, President, North America, who participated in the event, said the facility demonstates Tenaris' commitment to both environment and safety.

“The facility is being designed according to the most stringent environmental and safety standards, with the implementation of control technologies that will reduce our emissions footprint and exceed state and federal regulations," Curá said.

Operations at the Bay City, Texas, facility will begin in 2016. More information on the facility can be found at www.tenaris.com/USA/TenarisBayCity
