Tech talk. With the 44th Offshore Technology Conference in Houston just on the horizon, OE sought answers to the question, “What emerging technology will have a direct impact on the offshore market?” Our think tank had this to say:

Rune Haddeland, CEO, Quickflange AS

Cold based pipe connection solutions – solutions that do not require access to heat, sparks, or other ignition sources, and are characterized by their flexibility, cost effectiveness, and most important of all, safety. It s time for the industry to start proactively evaluating new safely-related technologies rather than opting for more deeply ingrained, disruptive approaches, such as hot work welding, that come with considerable risk.
