Contract extension for Safe Astoria

Shell Philippines Exploration agreed to a one-month extension for the firm period for the provision of Prosafe’s Safe Astoria accommodation support vessel at the Malampaya Phase 3 Depletion Compression Project offshore the Philippines. The total value of the firm extension period is US$5 million.

Safe Astoria was built in 1983, was converted to an accommodation and service rig at Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore in 2005 and was upgraded in 2012. The vessel has accommodations for 349 workers and includes facilities for recreation, catering, offices and plant areas. The rig is linked to the host installation by a fully articulated, automated gangway that can also function as an emergency temporary refuge.

The vessel is a Sedco 600 design, with a 1050m deck area and a 551sq m workshop and is powered by 6350kW generated by four diesel generator sets. It includes an eight-point wire-winch mooring system and can produce 75 tons of water per day.

The Safe Astoria is capable of operating in moderately harsh environments.
