Ocean Yield has agreed a contract extension on its four-month bareboat charter of the Lewek Connector subsea construction vessel with a related company of Ezra Holdings at a rate of US$40,000/day.

The initial contract was for four months. The extension adds a further three months, plus further extensions in charterers option for a period of up to two months, at a rate of $40,000/day. The extended charter period starts on 1 June 2017.

In February, Ocean Yield has signed the initial four-month contract for the Lewek Connector, just days after announcing a terminated contract for the vessel from EMAS Chiyoda Subsea, a JV between Ezra Holdings and Chiyoda, that was originally signed on 16 December 2016.

The DP3 Lewek Connector, currently just offshore Ghana, is one of the largest subsea installation and construction vessels, capable of operating down to to 3000m water depth and able to install power cables, umbilicals and risers using two heave-compensated offshore cranes, removable Horizontal and Vertical lay systems and two turntables with a total pay-load capacity of 9000-tonne.

Built in 2011, the vessel also has a mobile reel drive system (RDS) for up to 4 x 300-tonne mobile reels.
