The Maari MR7A well is located in PMP 38160 in the Taranaki basin, approximately 80km off Taranaki, New Zealand.

Initial production rates at the well are between 1500-2000 b/d. Its optimal production rate will be determined after several weeks of production and will take into account reservoir management considerations. Maari field’s total daily production is now at approximately 15,000 b/d.

on 18 May 2015, production at MR7A began from the Moki Formation. The well was drilled horizontally from the Maari wellhead platform to a total depth of 4220m, of which approximately 920m was completed in very high net-to-gross, good quality reservoir section as indicated by well log data. Based on currently available information the well is anticipated to meet or exceed pre-drill expectations and materially contribute to field production, Cue said.

The Ensco 107 jackup has been moblized and is now drilling the MR10 well to support continued production from the Moki Formation.

The Ensco 107 is under contract to for the drilling and workover campaign to support the Maari Growth Project. Both the MR8A and MR6A wells are now online and MR5 has been brought back on after a successful workover.

Production at the Maari and Manaia fields began in February 2009 from three producing reservoirs to a since wellhead platform before connecting to a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, moored about 1.5km from the wellhead platform.

OMV New Zealand is the operator of PMP 38160 with 69% interest. Joint venture parnters include Todd Maari (16%), Horizon Oil (10%), and Cue Taranaki (5%).
