InterMoor Brazil increases capabilities

InterMoor has added inspection and testing capabilities to its marine base at the Açu Superport in São João da Barra, northern Rio de Janeiro.

The base now has a 1000-ton test bed and can perform load and breaking test for chain, wire rope, and mooring accessories up to 800-tonne safe working load (SWL).

The inspection, test, and certification capabilities also extend to cargo-handling material like cranes, hoists, rigging, water bags, and slings. The company works with certification agencies such as ABS, DNV, BV and RINA, as requested per the client for each project.

“The new testing equipment enables us to widen our offering to our customers in the oil and gas and cargo transportation industries,” said Cleiver Moulin, managing director, InterMoor do Brasil. “We are now delivering a new set of integrity services including inspection, nondestructive tests, repair, and maintenance for all types of mooring components and cargo handling.”

InterMoor is also investing in inspecting and testing low and mid load (70-tonne SWL) components at clients’ premises, allowing significant savings in logistics and increasing the uptime of the components while improving overall HSE indicators by reducing cargo liftings and road transportation.
