Aker BP to test Nordfjellet, Delta prospects

Aker BP has received permits from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploration wildcat and an appraisal well in Production License 442 to test the Nordfjellet/Delta prospects.

The company will use jackup Maersk Inceptor to drill well 25/2-19 S 15km north of the of the Frøy field in the North Sea and about 140km from the Norwegian coast. Aker BP will then drill the appraisal well 25/2-19 A in the same area of the license, which consists of a part of block 25/2 and a part of block 25/3.

Aker BP reported in its Q2 2017 earnings report that it estimates Nordfjellet/Delta to contain between 10-39 MMboe. The company expects to drill Nordfjellet/Delta in Q3, after it completes drilling the Hyrokkin prospect.

Aker BP is the operator with an ownership interest of 90.26%. The other licensee is Lotos Exploration and Production Norge (9.74%). Production License 442 was awarded on 15 June 2007 in Awards in Predefined Areas 2006.
