Lebanon extends application date

The Lebanese Petroleum Administration (LPA) has extended the application deadline for pre-qualified companies submitting bids in Lebanon’s first offshore licensing round from 15 September to 12 October.

The change was made at the request of several pre-qualified companies that were unable to have all the documentation, guarantees and internal approvals ready by the original date, Wissam Edmond Chbat, chairman of the board and head of geology and geophysics with LPA, told OE.

Five offshore blocks are being offered in the upcoming bidding round, which Lebanon hopes will allow the country to tap its offshore gas resources and meet its domestic demand. Fifty-one companies are pre-qualified for the round.
