HB Rentals installs TLQ on Far Sentinel

Offshore living quarter specialist HB Rentals installed a new temporary living quarters (TLQ) accommodation project on the Far Sentinel, a 15,000 gross ton subsea construction / inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) vessel owned and managed by Norway’s Farstad Shipping.

The 84 personnel on board (POB) TLQ consists of seven A60 – ABS/USCG 12-man sleeper modules and one change room module. Additional scope includes sewage lift pumps, fire detection panel, 1500-gallon MSD sewage unit, transformer distribution skid, and stairs and porches.

The TLQ compliments a 130 POB permanent living quarters on the Far Sentinel, which with its 1800sq m deck area is capable of operating in up to 3000m water depth and features two offshore cranes (350t and 50t SWL) and two ROVs (remote operating vehicles).

The unique challenge of this project was the extremely tight time window Farstad had to select a temporary living quarters supplier, engineer the solution, obtain regulatory approval, install the entire complex with platforms and stairs and then reach the project site offshore Mexico, which was accelerated with a detailed site survey before the vessel sailed on to port in Louisiana.

As Farstad was pressed for time to meet the delivery schedule, the challenge was to ensure they were in position to execute on the work with the time available, HB Rentals said.

“Farstad had the exceptional ability to drive the project and was an excellent client partner as we jointly created the specs, designed the solution, achieved MA and DNVGL Class approvals and installed on board. They did this in record time”, said John Nagel, VP of product development.
