Statoil to use Scarabeo 5 for Snorre

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has given Statoil consent to use the Scarabeo 5 mobile drilling facility for well intervention in well 34/7-A-10H on the Snorre field. The activity is scheduled to begin in September and to last 22 days.

Snorre is an oil field in the Tampen area of the North Sea, around 150km west of Florø, in 335m water depth. The field has been developed using two floating integrated production facilities, Snorre A and B, and one subsea template tied back to Snorre A. Production at Snorre began in 1992.

Scarabeo 5 is a semisubmersible drilling facility, built by Fincantieri in Genoa in 1990. It is registered in the Bahamas and classified by Rina/ABS. Scarabeo 5 was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in May 2003.
