Eni closer to East Hub start-up

Eni’s Armada Olombendo floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel will soon sail away to the East Hub Development, offshore Angola, following its naming ceremony this week.

A ceremony was held today (14 October) in Singapore, and the vessel will soon be ready to sail to its final destination in Block 15/06, where once the vessel is in position, it will start mooring and hook-up operations, Eni said.

“Eni and its partners reached a key milestone towards achieving the first oil from East Hub Development Project, which is planned by 1H 2017,” Eni said. “This follows the successful stream of start-ups in the West Hub Project, in the same Block 15/06, which is the only Block of those awarded in the 2006 bid round that has achieved production.

The Italian giant’s East Hub Development Project encompasses nine subsea wells, of which five are producers and four are water injectors, in water depth ranging between 450-550m. The hydrocarbons which are produced from these wells will be transported via a pipeline system to the FPSO to be treated and stored prior to export.

Eni is the operator of Block 15/06 with a 36.84% stake. The other partners in the joint venture are Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção (36.84%) and SSI Fifteen (26.32%).
