Petrobras sets latest pre-salt record

Petrobras has achieved two new production records from its pre-salt reservoirs: a 1.28 MMb/d monthly production record and the 1.34 MMb/d record achieved on 4 January.

Combined oil and natural gas production operated by Petrobras also reached a new record at 1.59 MMboe/d.

Petrobras said the results are mainly due to production increase in the new wells interconnected to the FPSOs Cidade de Caraguatatuba (in the Lapa field); Cidade de Saquarema, Cidade de Mangaratiba, and Cidade de Itaguaí (in the Lula field); and Cidade de São Paulo (in the Sapinhoá field); all in Santos Basin.

Petrobras said higher operating performance at platform P-58, in Parque das Baleias, in the Campos Basin, was also a highlight.

Petrobras' total oil and natural gas production in January was 2.86 MMboe/d, of which 2.74 MMboe/d were produced in Brazil and 120,000 boe/d abroad.

Average production in Brazil was 2.23 MMb/d, 3% lower than December, 2016. This result was mainly due to a scheduled stoppage of platform P-40, in the Marlim Sul field, and maintenance in one of the producing wells in FPSO Cidade de Anchieta, in Parque das Baleias, both in the Campos Basin.

In January, natural gas production in Brazil, excluding the liquefied volume, was 81.4 MMcm/d, in line with the production of December, 2016.

Petrobras' January production outside Brazil reached 69,000 b/d, a 13% increase on December. The increase was particularly due to resumed operations in the Agbami field, in Nigeria, after a scheduled stoppage that took place in December.

Natural gas production was 8.6 Mcm/d, 16% lower than the volume produced in the previous month. This decrease occurred mostly because of the demand reduction for the gas from Bolivia.
