The FPU is destined for the Muara Bakau PSC, 70km from the coast of the East Kalimantan region, in the Makassar Strait at the Jangkrik Complex Fields, in 400m water depth. Once in position, the Jangkrik FPU will start mooring and hook-up operations.

Eni expects first gas in June, within three and half years from sanctioning, with a gross production of 80,000 boe/d. The FPU will be strategically positioned to allow the prompt development of nearby discoveries in a region rich of gas resources, says Eni.

Earlier today (21 March), Eni held a naming ceremony for the Jangkrik FPU at the Saipem Karimun Yard in Tanjung Balai Karimun, Indonesia with HE Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia Ignasius Jonan.

With a total of 10 production deepwater subsea wells will be connected to the FPU, Jangkrik has a gas processing and export capacity up to 450 MMcf/d. Not only will the FPU be operational as a hub in the Jangkrik Complex, but also for the nearby Merakes discovery.

Once processed onboard the FPU, the gas will then reach using a new dedicated 79km pipeline and a new onshore receiving facilities, the East Kalimantan Transportation System and the Bontang gas liquefaction plant.

The Jangkrik gas volumes will supply the local domestic market, the Indonesian LNG market as well as the LNG export market providing a significant contribution to the country’s energy needs and economic development.

Eni is the operator of the Muara Bakau PSC with a 55% stake through its affiliate Eni Muara Bakau BV. Partners include Engie E&P (33.334%) and PT Saka Energi Muara Bakau (11.664%.)
