The international geoscience and geotechnical engineering consultancy Cathie Associates has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Blue Wind Engineering (BWE) to cooperate on expanding within the offshore wind industry in South Korea.
According to a press release from the provider of a full range of marine foundation engineering services, the two parties have already worked together on a key project in the subsea power cable market, concerning the 3rd Transmission Line between the Korean mainland and Jeju Island, and would continue to share knowledge benefitting both parties.
“Offshore Wind in South Korea is set to grow and it is a key market for us, said Robin Comrie, Co-Managing Director of Cathie Associates.
“As South Korea aims to triple the share of renewables in its power mix by 2030, we hope to play a role in the offshore wind sector growth in the region. We are happy to have partnered with BWE as this provides us with a unique opportunity to bring our 40GW of offshore wind engineering expertise to South Korea. Having previously worked with BWE, we know that both companies are focussed on providing aninnovative, high value and cost-effective solutions to South Korean clients,” Robin added.
Cathie Associates has been operating for over ten years and has developed an impressive track record in a vast range of offshore and near-shore geotechnical services and solutions. Cathie Associates has worked in over two-thirds of all European offshore wind farms including London Array, Le Tréport and Borselle and has over 40GW of experience in offshore wind farm projects worldwide.
Headquartered in South Korea, Blue Wind Engineering was established to contribute to the development of wind power industry in the country, offering services ranging from the design of wind farms to the design and certification support of wind power components, production and construction.
