Petrobras makes 4th find off Sergipe-Alagoas

Petrobras has made a fourth oil discovery in the ultra-deepwater Sergipe-Alagoas basin offshore Brazil, the company announced on 5 December 2012.

Tests confirmed the presence of light oil in the Calumbi formation. Petrobras said the find is of excellent quality reservoirs with a 67m thick column.

The Muriú well is located in the BM-SEAL-10 concession 85km off the coast of Aracaju in the state of Sergipe. The Muriú well was drilled to a total depth of 5,347m and sits in water depths of 2,583m.

Petrobras said it is working on an assessment strategy for the new discovery, which includes proceeding with logging operations and gathering both rock and fluid data from the Muriú well.
