Statoil has awarded Aker Solutions a topside modification contract worth US $32.2 million (NOK 180 million) for its Gullfaks South field off Norway, Aker announced on 28 December 2012.

The scope of work for the Gullfaks South increased oil recovery project includes engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning assistance of topsides.

Aker will deliver topside modification for tie-in of two new templates located at the field to Gullfaks A, as well as topside modification for re-routing production from existing template D from Gullfaks A to Gullfaks C.

Project execution will be handled by Aker's maintenance, modifications and operations team in Bergen, Norway, with pre-fabrication to be handled at Aagotnes. Completion is expected by late 2014.

The Gullfaks contract follows yesterday's announcement that Aker will deliver four subsea trees and associated equipment to Marathon Oil Norge's Alvheim field. The value of that contract, which is part of a frame agreement with Marathon, was undisclosed.
