New taper stress joint in development

Magma Global logo

Chevron, Exxon, Shell, Statoil, and Petrobras are working with Magma Global to develop and qualify a taper stress joint using Magma’s m-pipe technology. The project, which began mid-February 2013, will focus on a 15ksi 8" taper stress joint and aims to have qualified design by conclusion of the program.

The pipe material is made by combining polyetheretherketone (PEEK) polymer and carbon fibers to create a high-strength, lightweight pipe that is resistant to corrosion and fatigue. Magma Global is based in Portsmouth (UK).
