McDermott wins more Arabian Gulf work

McDermott International, Inc. announced today that one of its subsidiaries was awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) project for a customer in the Arabian Gulf.

The contract is worth about US$200 million and includes the fabrication, transportation and installation of offshore facilities, including two production deck modules and 10 observation platforms.

The scope includes works for two subsea pipeline installations, three submarine power cables and two fiber optic cables.

Engineering work will be undertaken by the Dubai and Al Khobar offices, with construction and transportation from the Jebel Ali fabrication facility, in the United Arab Emirates.

Installation will be carried out using vessels from its McDermott's fleet, which are expected to mobilize in the end of Q2 2014. Project completion, including hookup and commissioning, is expected during Q1 2015.

Stewart Mitchell, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Middle East & Atlantic. “This project is a continuation of work we have previously completed for the same client in the same field."

The work follows two contracts won in the Arabian Gulf in April, worth about US$900 million.

The earlier contracts included engineering, procurement, construction and installation of a new tie-in platform, with a 3200-tonne topside and six-pile jacket, two auxiliary platforms, jackets and bridges, as well as five observation platforms, 72km of pipelines and 45km of subsea cables, in 10-30m water depth.

Also included in that project was brownfield work, including upgrades to five platforms with new main, mezzanine, cellar and helicopter decks and new boat landings. Project completion is expected in the third quarter 2015.

A second contract included the fabrication, transportation and installation of five drill support structures, weighing a total 7993-tonne in 30-65m water depth.

Project completion, including hookup and commissioning, is expected to be in the first quarter of 2014.

Engineering for these projects was being undertaken at McDermott's Al-Khobar and Dubai engineering offices, with construction at Jebel Ali.
