Baker Hughes: Feb 21 rig count

The US rig count increased by seven to a total of 1771 for the week of 21 Feb 2014, according to Baker Hughes Inc. This is an increase of 10 rigs from last year, and seven from the previous week.

Of the total, 1425 vessels are exploring for oil, and 342 for natural gas.

Texas saw an increase of six rigs, totaling 846—while Louisiana lost two. Alaska gained three, and Pennsylvania added one.

Unchanged from last week were Colorado at 60, Wyoming at 51, California at 36, West Virginia at 30, Utah at 26, and Arkansas at 12.  

Canada’s rig count increased by eight bringing the country’s overall rig count to 632; 30 vessels fewer than last year.
