Talisman Sinopec boss leaves

Talisman Sinopec Energy UK's managing director Geoff Holmes left the busines with immediate effect, yesterday, with the firm's executive vice-president Europe-Atlantic Paul Warwick taking over the job in an interim role (pictured).

Talisman Sinopec Energy UK is a joint venture between Canadian firm Talisman and China's Sinopec. In a statement, the joint venture said: "The shareholders of TSEUK are committed to building a stronger business which delivers sustainable and predictable results. The immediate priorities remain unchanged: safe operations and delivery of production according to the business plan.

A spokesperson added: "Geoff has led the UK business over the past three years and has played an integral leadership role in the establishment of the TSEUK Joint Venture. We are grateful to Geoff for his significant contribution to the business and we wish him well for the future."

Talisman Sinopec Energy UK operates nine offshore platforms, two floating facilities, and an onshore terminal at Flotta, in Orkney.

Holmes has more than 23 years' experience in the oil and gas industry - in engineering, operations, drilling and projects - within the Operator and Supply Chain sectors. He joined Talisman in 2007, and has held senior positions with the company, both in the UKCS and internationally. He was appointed as Senior Vice President for Talisman Energy UK in February 2011, prior to the creation of the joint venture.

Paul Warwick joined Talisman in May 2012 as executive vice president, International Operations (West), which was renamed Europe-Atlantic in 2013.

His previous roles include managing director of Phoenix Park Gas Processors, Trinidad; President and CEO Gulfstream Resources; managing director Conoco Nigeria; President and CEO Gulf Indonesia Resources; and more recently for ConocoPhillips: president and general manager for Indonesia; president Middle East and North Africa; president Europe and West Africa; President for UK and Africa and president Asia Pacific.

Born in the UK, Warwick holds a master of science degree from Cranfield Institute of Technology, is a chartered engineer and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, Fellow of the Welding Institute and Fellow of the Energy Institute. 

As EVP Europe-Atlantic at Talisman, he is responsible for Talisman’s businesses in the UK, Norway, Colombia, and the Kurdistan Region of Northern Iraq. In addition Warwick leads Talisman’s global technical functions including, exploration, geoscience, drilling & completions, projects & engineering and health, safety and environment activities. 

Warwick is also Talisman’s lead board and executive committee member for the Talisman Sinopec Energy UK limited joint venture.
