Eldfisk II commissioning starts

ConocoPhillips has started commissioning work on the Eldfisk 2/7 S facility following the installation of the topsides.

The two modules that make up the Eldfisk 2/7 S topsides were transported from Kværner’s yard on Stord, Norway, in May, and lifted into place on the Eldfisk complex.

At the peak, about 550 people will now be working to complete the platform, connect systems. and prepare for first production from new wells in Q1 2015.

The work is part of the Eldfisk II project, which also includes modification work on existing installations at Eldfisk.

The project includes the new integrated platform Eldfisk 2/7 S, 40 new wells, new pipelines, a new power and fibre optic cable and reconstruction of existing infrastructure on the Eldfisk field.

"We are very pleased with delivering the topsides from the shipyard to Eldfisk 2/7 S according to plan. Now we will ensure that the new structure fits in with the existing infrastructure on Eldfisk. Then we can hand over a high-quality project that will provide efficient, safe operations for the years to come," says Olav Henriksen, Eldfisk II project manager.

The construction on Stord started in February 2012. Sub-deliveries came from shipyards in Poland and Finland.

"Eldfisk II is a highly extensive project comprised of many elements," says Tor Inge Hansen, anager, Europe Capital Projects. "I’m pleased that the work is on schedule so we can hand over the new platform to the company’s operations department next year," he says.

The objective of the Eldfisk II project is to improve recovery and maintain safe, stable production for many years to come.
