First Integrated Solutions expands

First Integrated Solutions, an Aberdeen-based oil and gas service company, has seen significant transformations over the past six months due to the firms increasing investment activity.

In February, First Integrated Solutions was created following the acquisition by First Time Group of Global Integrated Services.  Under the new ownership over £7million has been invested in the business, which specialises in the supply, inspection and maintenance of safety critical services.

The investments have included £2.5million in a new headquarters building in Aberdeen.  The 44,000sq ft Bridge of Don facility comprises 24,600sq ft of office and training space, a 6800sq ft workshop and a 13,000sq ft yard, and supplements the firm’s existing 53,000sq ft works nearby.  Within the state-of-the-art rigging workshops First Integrated Solutions now has the largest wire rope press of its type in Europe, which has a capacity to manufacture wire ropes up to 128mm in diameter.

The business, which comprises five divisions – lifting and inspection, plant and tooling, lifeboats and marine, winches and deck machinery, and crane maintenance and management – opened a new base in Great Yarmouth in April.  The move has created additional jobs and allows First Integrated Solutions to better serve oil and gas firms operating in the Southern North Sea, as well as wind energy businesses located in the area.

To support growing customer demand, £4.5million has been spent expanding the firm’s fleet of rental equipment.  Twelve new-build winches and hydraulic power units have been purchased at a cost of £3.5million, while almost £1million has been invested in additional plant and tooling rental equipment.  This has grown the rental fleet to include over 2000 different equipment types across a fleet of more than 60,000 items.

Michael Gough, commercial director, First Integrated Solutions, said: “This year has been one of major change for the business.  With new ownership, management changes, significant levels of investment, our move to new premises in Aberdeen and opening a site in Great Yarmouth, we are a different business, one that is more robust and well-rounded.  We will be looking to build on this going forward.

“Our aim is to grow First Integrated Solutions in a sustainable way.  Continued investment and expansion into new markets are important elements of this.  In addition to opening our Great Yarmouth base we have recently signed agency agreements in Holland and Norway, meaning we have an improved presence in all sectors of the North Sea.”
