Ceona updates Amazon progress

Ceona has successfully floated the Ceona Amazon pipelay vessel from the Lloyd Werft yard in Bremerhaven, Germany, the company announced on 3 September 2014. Completion is scheduled for November.

Work at Bremerhaven follows successful floatation at Crist yard in Poland back in April. Currently, all major machinery, equipment and the helideck are installed. Accommodation, piping and electrical outfitting are in progress with system commissioning due to commence in the next few weeks.

Once work at the Lloyd Werft yard completes, the Ceona Amazon will move to Huisman’s yard in Schiedam, The Netherlands, at the end of the year for installation of a 570t pipelay tower and the two 400t cranes before entering into operation early 2015.

Ceona COO, Stuart Cameron, said construction progress continues. At the Huisman yard, FAT has completed on both 400t cranes. Construction on the 570t pipelay tower is nearly finished.

“By early 2015, the Ceona Amazon is set to deliver true value and versatility to our clients, through her ability to operate in multiple pipelay and operational modes,” he said.
