Vallourec gets piece of Edradour

Technip Umbilicals awarded Vallourec a contract for the Total-operated West of Shetland Edradour project in the UK.

For the first industrial order, Vallourec will deliver super duplex welded tubes for umbilicals, a key component in subsea installations, from its plant located in Burgandy, France. The French plant that has already produced several prototype orders and this contract marks the start of the industrial production at the plant.

Vallourec added that their offer strength and mechanical properties compared to products currently available on the market.

According to Vallourec, the manufacturing at the Vallourec Umbilicals plant is scheduled to begin at the end of Q3 2014 with a delivery to Technip in Newcastle (UK) in the first half of 2015.

Edradour

The Edradour gas and condensate field is located in Block 206/4a, 75km North-West of Shetlands in approximately 300m water depth.

In July, Total E&P UK chose Technip to perform work on the Edradour subsea development. The development will form part of the new West of Shetland hub, taking in the Laggan-Tormore, Edradour, and Glenlivit fields, all produced through the Laggan-Tormore infrastructure and export system. 

Under the terms of agreement, Technip’s work covers the fabrication and installation of pipelines, as well as umbilicals, supplied by its subsidiary, Technip Umbilicals.

Total operates the Edradour discovery with a 75% interest with joint venture partner DONG E&P (UK) Ltd (25%).

The JV expect the discovery to begin producing in the 4Q 2017.
