Located in the East Coast Marine Area (ECMA) of Trinidad, about 50 mi. offshore, the Starfish field is connected to the 3000-tonne Dolphin platform.

BG Group says this production will ensure a reliable flow of gas to the domestic market and to the Atlantic LNG export facility, a key source for the company’s global LNG business.

The ECMA that includes the Dolphin, Dolphin Deep and Starfish fields, has been producing since 1996. The Starfish project was sanctioned in 2012.

BG Group operates the ECMA with 50% interest with joint venture partner Chevron Trinidad and Tobago Resources SRL (50%).

Last week, the Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago awarded two deepwater blocks to the BHP Billiton - BG International consortium. The production sharing contracts include nine-year exploration phases for two blocks off the northeast coast of Trinidad, in 1800m water depth that include Trinidad and Tobago Deep Atlantic Area Blocks (TTDAA) Area 3, covering 109,722 hectares and TTDAA Area 7, covering covers 99,783 hectares.
