Saudi Aramco appoints president and CEO

Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco) appointed Amin H. Nasser as its new president and chief executive officer.

The Saudi Aramco Supreme Council held its first meeting in Jeddah making the decision to appoint Nassar, who is also a member of Saudi Aramco’s board of directors.

Nasser served as senior vice president of upstream at Saudi Aramco, a position he has held since 2008 with responsibilities including exploration, petroleum engineering, oil and gas production, and processing activities. 

Nasser joined Saudi Aramco in 1982 after graduating from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran with a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering. From November 1982 to February 1991, he held various technical and operational assignments with the production engineering, drilling and reservoir management departments. From March 1991 to May 1997, Nasser held various supervisory positions in the engineering and producing departments.
