UDS, Wu Chang Shipbuilding sign newbuild contract

Ultra Deep Group (UDS) has announced that it has signed a contract to build a DP2 FiFi2 multipurpose diving support construction vessel (DSCV) ANDY WARHOL with Wu Chang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co. 

The ANDY WARHOL is designed according to the class notation “clean design” and SPS code and high focus is given to low fuel consumption, which reduces emission to the environment. FO tank arrangement according to “clean design” and MARPOL - oil fuel tank protection, operating on a FiFi class 2 system while adhering to Tier III NOx emission standards. The vessel is equipped with Flash Tekk 18 man single bell saturation system operating at 300m, a 150-tonne active heave compensated crane with a single fall of 3000m, fitted with a WROV and an OBS ROV and it can accommodate up to 120 personnel.

The vessel has an overall length of 103.5m, is 4000dwt, and will be prepared for world‐wide operations in the deep and ultra-deep oil and gas sector projects. 

"Ultra Deep Solutions goal is to build up to 25 Subsea construction vessels by 2018-2019. The downturn in the market has given us the opportunity to look for greater pricing to create a new opportunity for us," said  Shel Hutton, chief executive officer of UDS.
