NPD grants Total, Tullow drilling permits

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted both Total E&P Norge and Tullow Oil Norge drilling permits in the North Sea.

Total’s wildcat

Total will drill well 30/4-3 S located in production license 040/043 with the Mærsk Intrepid jackup rig. The area in this license consists of a part of block 30/4. This is the third exploration well to be drilled within the license area. A total of 16 wells, including sidetracks, have been drilled in the Martin Linge area.

Total E&P Norge is the operator with 51% stake. Partners include Petoro (30%) and Statoil (19%).

Tullow to target Rome

Tullow’s drilling permit, granted by NPD, is for well 16/5-6, located in production license 776.

The area in this production license is located in the central part of the North Sea, and consists of parts of blocks 16/5, 6, 8 and 9. The well will be drilled about 30km south of the Johan Sverdrup field. This is the first well to be drilled within the production license area.

Tullow Oil Norge is the operator with an ownership interest of 40%. Partners are Concedo (20%), Wintershall Norge (20%) and Petoro (20%).
