Rosneft makes Vietnam discovery

Russia's Rosneft has made a gas condensate discovery named Wild Orchid offshore Vietnam.

The well was drilled using the Hakuryu-5 semisubmersible drilling rig during Q2 this year, operated by RN-Vietnam, in Block 06.1.

Volume of reserves and commercial attractiveness of the discovery are to be confirmed, says Rosneft, which adds that the field is close to the Lan Tay platform, operated by RN-Vietnam, offering a potential export route.

Rosneft has also, with partner Statoil, started drilling two exploration wells in the Magadan-1 and Lisyanskiy areas of the Sea of Okhotsk under the carry financing arrangement, Rosneft says.

During H1 2016, the firm has also been undertaking 2D and 3D seismic acquisition operations in the Albanovsky and Vostochno-Pribrezhny license blocks in the Barents Sea and the Sea of Okhotsk.

Rosneft is also preparing to carryout works in license blocks in the Laptev Sea, East Siberia Sea, Chukchi Sea, Kara Sea, Barents Sea and the Black Sea, including 2D and 3D seismic surveys, airborne gravity and magnetic surveys, geochemical surveys, and site investigation surveys.

Meanwhile, in April, Rosneft started drilling of an extended-reach horizontal development well at Lebedyanskoye oil and gas condensate field in Sea of Okotsk.

The well, with the measured depth of over 5000m, was constructed and completed in July 2016 with the start-up flow rate over 400,000 b/d. A total of three, 5000-7000m-long horizontal production wells are to be drilled within the project scope.
