Hadrian South is located about 230mi offshore in the Keathley Canyon area at approximately 7650ft water depth. It is near the Anadarko-operated Lucius project where Hadrian South’s facilities are tied back to, which reduces additional infrastructure requirements.

As ExxonMobil’s deepest subsea tie-back at 1.5mi deep, Hadrian South has an expected gross production of about 300 MMcf/d and 3000 b/d of liquids from two wells.

Hadrian South is a subsea production system with flowlines connected to the Lucius truss spar, which began production in January.

The Hadrian-2 discovery well was drilled in 2008 and the appraisal well, the Hadrian-4 sidetrack, was completed in 2009.

With the startup of Hadrian South and Lucius, ExxonMobil’s total Gulf of Mexico net production capacity has increased by more than 45,000 boe/d.

“Cooperating closely with Lucius operator, Anadarko, has facilitated the development of a deepwater resource that may not have been possible using a standalone approach,” says Neil W. Duffin, ExxonMobil Development Co. president.

The Lucius field includes portions of Keathley Canyon Blocks 874, 875, 918, and 919. The Lucius platform has a daily capacity of 80,000 bbl and 450 MMscf/d of natural gas, of which 300 MMscf/d are dedicated to Hadrian South. The  natural gas will be transported to an onshore facility in Louisiana using an undersea pipeline.

In February, the Keathley Canyon Connector began flowing natural gas in the ultra deepwaters of the Gulf of Mexico. The 20in, 209mi connector is capable of gathering more than 400 MMcf/d of natural gas. The extension is supported by long-term agreements with the Lucius and Hadrian South owners for natural gas gathering, transportation, and processing services from the fields.

ExxonMobil operates Hadrian South with a 46.7% interest with JV partners Petrobras (23.3%) and Eni (30%).
