Buckskin and Moccasin are located in the Keathley Canyon. The Buckskin prospect is located about 190 mi. southeast of Houston, and 44 mi. west of the Chevron-operated Jack discovery. Moccasin is 12 mi. away from Buckskin.

According to the terms of the agreement, INTECSEA will execute the FEED and procurement services for a subsea tieback from the Buckskin and Moccasin fields to a nearby production facility located in the Outer Continental Shelf of the Gulf of Mexico.

INTECSEA will manage the project from its Houston office, with support from its office in Hyderabad, India.

In October 2014, the deepwater drillship Pacific Sharav arrived in Keathley Canyon to begin work for Chevron at the Buckskin prospect. Chevron and the drillship’s owner, Pacific Drilling, signed a five-year contract for the Pacific Sharav, beginning 27 August 2014.

In 2013, Chevron awarded WorleyParsons a contract to handle the preliminary design phase for deepwater subsea architecture, riser interface and topside facility design for the oil and gas production semisubmersible.

In December, the production of crude oil and natural gas began flowing at Chevron's nearby Jack/St. Malo project. The fields are among the largest in the Gulf of Mexico. The supermajor expects production from the first development stage to ramp over the next several years to a total daily rate of 94,000 bbl of crude oil and 21 MMcf of natural gas.

Chevron owns and operates Buckskin with 55% interest along with partners Repsol (12.5%), Maersk Oil (20%) and Samson Offshore (12.5%). Chevron is also the operator of Moccasin with a 43.75% interest with partners BP (43.75%) and Samson Offshore (12.5%).
