EIC announces shortlist for supply chain award

The Energy Industries Council (EIC) announced seven companies for the shortlist for the EIC Award for Supply Chain Excellence 2014, which recognizes a member organization that has demonstrated a superior level of supply chain performance.

“All of the shortlisted entries clearly display a new or improved product, service or initiative that is commercially available and has offered proven tangible benefits to clients,” said Charlotte Hust, UK southern regional manager. “The quality of this year’s entries is testament to the outstanding contribution that the UK supply chain makes to the global energy market, and the EIC is delighted to showcase our members’ capabilities through this initiative.”

AMEC developed the Track & Trace system to identify and track materials across the supply chain, from the initial receipt at the warehouse to various onshore, offshore or third party work sites. The technology brings a fully integrated tracking system to the oil and gas industry, showing to reduce wasted man-hours and additional costs to zero, making it a proven time and money saving innovation.

Cape Environmental Services (Offshore Division) developed the Torpedo, an environmentally safe internal overboard caisson cleaning system, in conjunction with Apache North Sea. Torpedo is capable of operating below sea level to remove all scale and marine growth from the caisson back to the platform deck level for disposal.

FoundOcean created the Super Pan Mixer in response to the lengthy process of the grout mixing of ultra-high strength grouts during offshore wind turbine installation that brings the mixing rate for ultra-high strength grouts of around 6cu. m/hr nearer to the mixing rate of standard strength grouts at 25cu. m/hr. The Super Pan Mixer was deployed at the West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm where it saved a total of 200 hours of grouting time.

Hertel developed its proprietary Corrosion Under Pipeline Supports (CUPS) program to provide a pipeline inspection and rejuvenation service to oil refineries and chemical plants, helping to extend the lifespan of ageing fleet by up to a further 25 years.

Pressure Tech designed the LF-690 Hydraulic Pressure Regulator to improve the reliability and repeatability of pressure control to subsea systems. It is resistant to shock loads and unstable resonating, utilizes ceramic seating to resist cavitation and features a lower access plug to make servicing easier. The subsea valve actuator has been adapted into a version for use down to 3000m.

Sherwin-Williams added the Dura-Plate 301W coating to its Dura-Plate 301 range of surface tolerant epoxy coating systems that offers cold curing and extended recoating ability for offshore maintenance painting in aggressive atmospheric exposure conditions. Dura-Plate 301W is surface and humidity tolerant and can be applied over wet surfaces, has no dew point restrictions, will adhere to iron oxides and has high pull-off adhesions up to 25MPa.

TRAC Oil & Gas introduced a proven bespoke mini-ROV inspection service for the visual inspection of FPSO hull structures to meet class certification. TRAC’s mini-ROVs can be engineered for a number of work scopes, including water ballast tanks, shell plating checks and mooring chain checks, providing a lower risk and cost-effective solution.

The winner of the award will be announced in a short presentation ceremony in front of industry peers at the EIC National Dinner, which will be held in London’s Central Hall at the Natural History Museum on 16 October 2014.
